Pink Floyd is, hands down, my all time favorite music... well, mostly, anyways... but, they did, hands down (for real) perform the very best concert that I have ever been fortunate enough to have attended. I didn't see them till around 1994, while on their Division Bell tour... but, it was phenomenal... the moment the music started circling 'round the concert arena, with their signature surround-sound concert primer, excitement rose within the chest area... and, it was sooooo wonderful to see 3 generations in attendance... my generation... my father's generation (who, I'm quite sure, never even knew that they existed!)... and, my son's generation... how awesome, just that fact, alone! Music, the sound of the Soul, that unites everyone and everything, where no generational barriers seem to exist! There has been so much emotion attached to their music... and, so much memory, from the past... good memory, that has no need to be replaced, just simply remembered, and experienced again and again... for they touch on so many different levels... their sounds, which will take you all the way from well below the root chakra, to an explosion grandly outside the crown chakra... with lyrics, which induce thoughts, fit for any generation.
A couple of months ago, Richard Wright, one of the co-founders of Pink Floyd, passed away. The other co-founder passed away a few years back, Syd Barrett, who had long left the band, having... according to what is said... lost his mind. I'm not so sure about that, perhaps he merely went through a transformation... and that might not have been such a bad thing. Shine On You Crazy Diamond was written for him... on their Wish You Were Here Album. He was, apparently, well loved... and missed. Anywaaaays... we recently watched a DVD about the making of The Dark Side of The Moon... which was awesome! I was so impressed with the talent, on all levels, from musicians, to engineers (Alan Parsons, for one)... in the end, I was very saddened upon remembering that one of the band members had passed away... and wanted to remember him here... as when all things end, nothing will ever be the same. At least we are left with what he gave to us, while he was here.
I tried to find a good video to honor Richard with... this one, along with Part 2, right below this one, do... at least... show a few good shots of Richard singing lead with David Gilmore... and playing... he was the key-boardist for the band, and helped to co-write some of the music. I hope you will enjoy!
